that I like to dabble in writing. And you’ve heard me say before that my prose is decidedly weaker than my poetry. So I decided to do something about it; call it kind of a new year’s resolution. Starting next Tuesday, I’m going to be taking the first of a few creative writing courses at Stanford. Part of the course includes writing at least one short story, and I thought, wouldn’t it be fun if I blogged my progress on it? And so I will. Look out for it in the near future!

That night, the instructor asked us to write the opening scenes of the short story we’ll be working on throughout the class. As promised, I’m going to be blogging my progress on the story, and this is the first post. I’ve completed a draft of the first couple of scenes, and it is posted below.
