This is the week I am expecting to tank; both LT and Deshaun Foster have a bye this week, so I’ve only got Najeh Davenport at running back. And with Willie Parker back and healthy for the Steelers, I’m not expecting too many points off him. According to the preview, my opponent was favored by 4 points, but hopefully I’ll get some serious points off the Patriots’ defense, who are up against the ineffectual Dolphins offense this week.
OTOH, my opponent has Eli Manning at QB, and the Giants are up against the equally ineffectual 49ers this week, so this could get ugly.
a Superbowl preview today*, and we saw today what I think we’ll see in February. The Patriots simply outclassed the Cowboys, who are an excellent team, but just not on the Pats’ level.
* Yes, I know that the road to the Superbowl has to go through Indianapolis yet, but, man, the Patriots just look unstoppable. The Cowboys, on the other hand, have no competition in the NFC. At all.
In fantasy news, I’m currently up by 10 and still have Bobby Engram to play. This game was made for me by LT and Wes Welker, who had huge performances today with 44 and 24 points, respectively.
I’m favored by 20 points in today’s matchup, partly because my opponent has two inactive quarterbacks: Jake Delhomme and Rex Grossman. In fact, as my opponent is a Bears fan and has most of their players on her fantasy team, including their DST—except for Desmond Clark, who I have at TE—rooting for them will mean rooting for her. But I’m willing to risk it. BEARS!
Speaking of Ds, I have the only defense, I think, that could compete with the Bears’: the Patriots’. It’ll be a good matchup…stay tuned for more.
for me; Donald Driver just caught a 26-yard pass that put my opponent at 77 to my 74. Sigh.
I’m currently up by one point, and all my players have already played. My opponent still has Donald Driver to play in tonight’s Bears-Packers matchup, so hopefully he’s not much of a factor tonight. I’m not holding my breath on this one, though.
If Philip Rivers keeps playing the way he played today, I’ll consider him as my starting QB.
Let’s cut to the chase. I’m 3-1 in my league, and favored by 10 points today. But I’m much more concerned with what’s going to happen in the next few weeks. People, I have a situation. I am a raving idiot and just figured out that all 3 of my running backs have a bye in the same week, as well as 2 of my wide receivers. I can probably do without one wideout and my kicker, as I don’t have a backup, but I have to do something fast about my RB situation. By this time there are no useful free agents, and I’ll have to see if I can make a trade.
Final score: 94-35. Blow. Out.
Final score: 115-105, in my opponent’s favor. I didn’t win, but my team did turn in a respectable performance.
Well now that that’s over, it’s time for the best game of the week: Cowboys vs. BEARS!
26 points, and it doesn’t look like the situation will improve anytime soon. Sigh. This calls for a beer.
Of all the times for Philip Rivers to throw an interception…He lost the game to the Packers today, 300+ yard passing game or no.
